EDRA, UT — Two local men from Tooele tragically lost their lives in a collision involving a Corvette and a semi-truck on Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred just before 10:00 a.m. near SR-179 and Parachute Park Lane in Erda. According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a Corvette turned in front of a Freightliner semi-truck, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.
Both occupants of the Corvette were killed in the crash. The driver has been identified as Robert Chato Rainwater, 66, and the passenger as Alan Boyd Anderson, 65. The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Officials have not publicly released the identity of the semi-truck driver.
Following the incident, SR-179 was closed for several hours as investigators worked at the scene. The Utah Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances leading to the collision.
The community mourns the loss of Rainwater and Anderson as friends, family, and neighbors remember the two men whose lives were tragically cut short. Authorities remind drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant on roadways, particularly at intersections, to help prevent accidents.
