BOURBON COUNTY, KS — A tragic crash Thursday morning claimed the life of Kellie Harvey, 57, in Bourbon County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Harvey was traveling north in her SUV on 125th Street toward Mapleton at approximately 9:15 p.m. when her vehicle left the roadway. Officials say the SUV overcorrected, causing it to overturn multiple times before coming to rest in a ditch on the opposite side of the road.
Harvey was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released additional details regarding possible contributing factors, and the incident remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Officials remind drivers to always wear seat belts and exercise caution, particularly when navigating rural roadways, as even small errors can lead to devastating outcomes.
