WANETTE, Okla. — The Wanette community is grieving the tragic loss of Steven J. Goodnight, 39, who was killed early Sunday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 177 in Garvin County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Goodnight was driving northbound when his vehicle crossed the center line for reasons that remain under investigation, colliding with a southbound vehicle driven by 52-year-old Michael L. Martin of Oklahoma City. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but despite life-saving efforts, Goodnight succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Martin was also injured and transported to a hospital, with his current condition not yet released. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and there were no passengers in either vehicle.
