Inmate Jesse Harrell Found Dead at Whitman County Jail; Investigation Underway

COLFAX, Wash. — The Colfax community is mourning the tragic loss of Jesse Harrell, an inmate at the Whitman County Jail, who was found dead early Sunday morning. Harrell was discovered unresponsive during routine rounds by a corrections officer. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by jail staff and responding EMS personnel, he was pronounced deceased.

The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a full investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding Harrell’s death. The official cause of death has not yet been released by the Whitman County Coroner’s Office.

Sergeant Michael Jordan stated that additional information, including the official cause of death, will be shared once the coroner completes their review. To ensure impartiality, the sheriff’s department is not leading the investigation.
