Passenger Injured as Haughton Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident

HAUGHTON, La. — A Haughton man has died following a motorcycle crash early Monday morning on Sligo Road, authorities said.

According to the Louisiana State Police Troopers from Troop G, the crash occurred near Mayflower Road at approximately 1 a.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that 43-year-old Preston Workman was riding a 2025 Harley-Davidson east on Sligo Road when his motorcycle crossed the centerline, struck an uneven section of the shoulder, and overturned.

Workman, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, also wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators have not yet determined whether impairment played a role in the crash. Toxicology samples were taken as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
