CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Chesterfield County Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Officers were dispatched around 9:45 a.m. to the 4000 block of Frye Terrace following a report of a disturbance involving a weapon. According to authorities, a complainant reported that an adult male was on their property, armed with a long gun and yelling. At one point, the armed man allegedly approached the complainant’s front door before returning to his residence.
Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, later identified as Tamondrick J. Burroughs Jr., 32, armed with a rifle in the doorway of his home. Authorities said the suspect pointed the firearm at officers, prompting one officer to discharge their weapon. Burroughs then retreated inside his residence.
Police established a perimeter and used a drone to assess the situation. Officers later entered the residence and found Burroughs unresponsive on the floor. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No officers were injured during the incident. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave, in accordance with departmental policy.
