ALVIN, Texas — Authorities have arrested 23-year-old Eric Olvera in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Emad Siddiqui of Sugarland. Olvera was taken into custody Monday night without incident and is being held without bond.
According to the Alvin Police Department, the incident began on April 2, 2026, around 10:29 p.m., when a 911 caller reported that his friend had been shot while they were traveling on S.H. 35. Officers located the vehicle in the 3100 block of S.H. 35 and found Siddiqui in the back seat with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators determined that the shooting occurred at a convenience store roughly one mile south of where Siddiqui was found. The dispute reportedly stemmed from a previously arranged vehicle trade between Siddiqui and Olvera.
Olvera has been charged with murder and, at the time of the initial report, was considered armed and dangerous. Detectives had urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Alvin Police Department at 281-388-4370.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather additional details about the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Emad Siddiqui.
