Fatal Car Crash on St. Patrick’s Drive in Waldorf Claims Life of Virginia Man

At approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to the 155 block of St. Patrick’s Drive after receiving reports of a serious collision involving two sport utility vehicles. Upon arrival, emergency responders were met with a chaotic and heartbreaking scene, as both vehicles had sustained significant damage and had come to rest in the median after a violent impact.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that a gray Honda SUV had just exited a nearby car wash and was traveling in the far-right acceleration lane. As the vehicle attempted to merge into traffic, it was struck from behind by a white Genesis SUV that was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to spin out of control before ultimately crashing into the median.

Tragically, the front-seat passenger of the Honda SUV, identified as 68-year-old Godfrey Derlonard Scarlett of Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene. His sudden and untimely passing has left loved ones grieving and serves as a somber reminder of how quickly lives can be changed on the roadway.

The driver of the Honda SUV, a 63-year-old woman from Waldorf, sustained serious injuries in the crash. Due to the severity of her condition, she was airlifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Meanwhile, the driver of the Genesis SUV, a 50-year-old Waldorf man, was transported by ground ambulance to a hospital. Authorities reported that his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
