YORK TOWNSHIP, Ohio — It is with heavy hearts that the West Lafayette community mourns the tragic loss of Dalton Miller, 24, who was killed Monday afternoon in a devastating head-on crash in York Township.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol New Philadelphia Post, troopers were dispatched at approximately 1:13 p.m. to Stonecreek Road, north of Circle Drive, after reports of a serious two-vehicle collision.
Investigators said Miller was driving a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis southbound when the vehicle traveled left of center and struck a northbound Toyota Highlander head-on. Following the violent impact, the Highlander reportedly went off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.
Miller was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old passenger, also from West Lafayette, was transported by ambulance with injuries that have not been released. Authorities stated both occupants of the Mercury were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Toyota was driven by a 33-year-old woman from New Philadelphia, who was taken to a hospital with injuries that remain unknown. Her 2-year-old son was treated at the scene and later released to a family member. Troopers confirmed both were properly restrained.
Dalton Miller’s sudden passing has left loved ones devastated, as family and friends struggle to accept a life lost far too soon. The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
