BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A devastating act of violence has left the Fort Greene community in mourning following the tragic death of 43-year-old Jamal Davis, who was fatally shot inside his apartment on a quiet Sunday morning.
According to the New York City Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call of a shooting at approximately 10:52 a.m. on April 12 at 75 Cumberland Walk. When authorities arrived at the 12th-floor apartment, they found Davis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators say Davis was shot in the chest and arm during an apparent confrontation inside the residence. Emergency medical personnel rushed him to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving efforts.
Authorities reported that the suspected shooter is a 16-year-old who fled the scene on foot immediately after the incident. The teenager, who is believed to be the son of Davis’s girlfriend and also a resident of the apartment, remains at large as police continue their search.
