In Loving Memory of Kara Beagle, Jay’Shawn Godfrey, and Three Young Lives Lost in Chambers County Crash

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we remember the lives of Kara Beagle, 37, of Liberty, Jay’Shawn Godfrey, 19, of Houston, and two young juveniles, ages 17 and 15, who tragically lost their lives in a devastating single-vehicle crash on a Friday evening in Chambers County, Texas.

The heartbreaking incident occurred around 7 p.m. on April 10 along FM 563, approximately 0.8 miles south of Interstate 10. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the vehicle involved was a 2005 Chrysler 300 sedan driven by Kara Beagle. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and violently struck a tree, resulting in a catastrophic crash that claimed all four lives at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, though the full circumstances remain under investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled for the driver as officials continue working to understand what led to this tragic moment. Next of kin for all victims have been notified.

Among those lost was Jay’Shawn Godfrey, a 19-year-old from Houston whose life was just beginning to unfold. The two additional victims were juveniles, aged 17 and 15, whose identities have not been publicly released. Their names are withheld out of respect for their families during this unimaginable time of grief.

News of the tragedy has sent shockwaves through the Liberty Independent School District community. In a heartfelt message, Liberty ISD Superintendent Dusty McGee confirmed that students from Liberty High School were among those who died in the crash. The district expressed profound grief and extended condolences to all affected families, classmates, and staff.

In his statement, McGee emphasized the importance of unity and compassion, noting that grief counselors and members of the ministerial alliance would be made available to support students in the days ahead. The district also encouraged families to seek additional resources and support as the community begins the long process of healing.

This devastating loss has left families shattered and a community struggling to comprehend the sudden absence of young lives filled with promise, potential, and dreams that will now remain unfulfilled. The pain of this tragedy extends far beyond those directly involved, touching classmates, friends, teachers, and neighbors who now mourn together.

As the investigation continues, the focus remains on remembering and honoring the lives lost. Kara Beagle, Jay’Shawn Godfrey, and the two young passengers will be remembered not for the tragedy that took them, but for the lives they lived, the love they shared, and the impact they had on those who knew them.

May their memories live on forever, and may their families find strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead.
