A tragic and deeply disturbing incident in North Port, Florida has left the community mourning the loss of 32-year-old Tiffany B. Schiessl, whose life was cut short following a violent encounter inside a residence on Brassy Loop.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by investigators, North Port police responded on Sunday to a 911 call placed at approximately 11:27 a.m. from 46-year-old Coy Pearson Bothwell, who reported what he initially described as a past burglary at the home located at 5261 Brassy Loop. During the call, Bothwell allegedly told dispatchers that a woman had entered the residence with scissors and was now unresponsive and not breathing.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a woman lying dead near the front entryway inside the home. She was later identified as Tiffany B. Schiessl. Authorities confirmed that she had suffered fatal injuries, and emergency personnel were unable to revive her.
Following the discovery, investigators launched a homicide investigation, and Bothwell was taken into custody in connection with her death. He has since been charged with second-degree murder without premeditation.
According to the affidavit, detectives later interviewed Bothwell after he waived his Miranda rights. In that interview, investigators say he acknowledged that Schiessl had been his roommate for approximately two months and had returned to the home on April 4 but was allegedly unable to enter despite previously being provided with keys.
The affidavit further states that Bothwell admitted to attacking Schiessl with multiple objects, including a kitchen knife, scissors, and golf clubs, during the confrontation inside the residence. Investigators reported that he described striking her repeatedly and restraining her until she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities also noted that his statements did not include any indication of self-defense.
Police have previously described the case as isolated and confirmed that Bothwell and Schiessl were known to each other prior to the incident. The affidavit adds further context, stating that Schiessl had been living in the home as a roommate at the time of the incident.
The shocking details outlined in the investigation have left the North Port community in disbelief as friends, family, and residents try to process the sudden and violent loss of a young woman whose life ended far too soon.
Loved ones are now mourning Tiffany B. Schiessl, remembering her with sorrow and heartbreak as they seek answers and justice in the aftermath of this tragedy. The loss has sent ripples through the community, prompting an outpouring of condolences and sympathy for those closest to her.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and review all circumstances surrounding the case. Officials have emphasized that additional details may be released as the legal process continues.
