The Tarpon Springs community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Tony Hendrix, who tragically lost his life in a shooting that also left another man critically injured in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue.
According to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at approximately 4:05 p.m. Two adult males were transported from the scene in a personal vehicle before emergency responders arrived. Authorities confirmed that one of the victims was later pronounced deceased, while the second was taken to a local hospital and remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe the incident to be isolated, and officials have stated there is no known ongoing threat to the public. The Tarpon Springs Police Department continues to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting as residents are asked to avoid the area while evidence is collected and reviewed.

Tony was remembered not only for his presence on the field, but for the energy and positivity he brought into every room he entered. He played two years on the Tarpon Springs Spongers Varsity Football team, where he was known as a standout player and, even more importantly, an incredible teammate.
Those who knew Tony describe him as someone with an infectious personality—always able to lift the spirits of those around him. He was the kind of person who could bring a smile to anyone’s face, no matter the situation, and he was always ready to support and stand by his friends and teammates. There was nothing negative to say about Tony, a reflection of the respect and love he earned from those closest to him.
His loss has left a painful void in the hearts of many who knew and loved him. As the community comes together in grief, they are also holding onto the memories of his kindness, his loyalty, and the joy he brought into their lives.
