DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines Police have identified the victim and made an arrest following a fatal shooting early Friday morning.
According to the Des Moines Police Department, officers and first responders were called around 3 a.m. to the 3200 block of 30th Street after receiving reports of a shooting. When authorities arrived, they located a woman deceased inside an apartment.
At the time, police said no arrests had been made, but investigators were actively interviewing witnesses and working to determine what led up to the shooting.
Later Friday afternoon, the DMPD Crimes Against Persons Section announced that 46-year-old Sharneeka Evans, of Des Moines, had been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder, a Class A felony.
Police said evidence indicates Evans used a pistol to shoot 36-year-old Ashley Marie Hall, also of Des Moines, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities stated that both Evans and Hall were guests inside the apartment where the shooting occurred.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Des Moines Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
