SEWARD COUNTY, Kan. — One person is dead and another was seriously injured following a rollover crash early Sunday morning in Seward County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just after 3 a.m. on U.S. Highway 83 near the Liberal Animal Shelter. KHP said a 1999 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound when it drove up onto a curb for an unknown reason. The truck then began to fishtail before rolling an unknown number of times and coming to rest facing south.
Authorities identified the victim as Elijio Beltran, 22, of Liberal, who was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver, a 25-year-old man from Liberal, was also taken to the hospital with suspected serious injuries. Officials have not released his name.
KHP reported that neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
