PAYSON, UT — The Payson Police Department (PPD) has confirmed the death of Andrea Mecham, less than 24 hours after she was reported missing.
Mecham was last seen around 4:00 p.m. on March 26, 2026, prompting PPD to issue a social media alert asking for the public’s assistance in locating her. Authorities expressed concern for her safety and wellbeing.
In an updated post, PPD confirmed that Mecham’s body was located, and her next of kin have been notified. While the investigation into her death is still in its early stages and a full review may take several weeks, police do not currently suspect foul play or suspicious activity.
The Payson Police Department extended their heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Mecham, stating: “Our deepest sympathies go out to Andrea’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Authorities remind the public that if someone goes missing, it is important to contact local law enforcement immediately. Utah officials emphasize that there is no waiting period required to report a missing person, and in emergencies, individuals should call 911.
When reporting a missing person, law enforcement recommends providing as much detail as possible, including: full name or nicknames, recent photos, date of birth, age, gender, physical description, distinguishing marks, date and location last seen, medical conditions, and relevant social media accounts. Keeping detailed notes of interactions with law enforcement—including officer names, case numbers, dates, and times—can also be helpful.
Additional resources for missing persons include the Utah Department of Public Safety, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and national hotlines such as:
