CRIVITZ, Wis. — The Crivitz community is mourning the tragic loss of Brooke D. Boulanger, 40, who was killed Saturday afternoon in a devastating UTV crash in Stephenson, Wisconsin.
According to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle UTV rollover crash on Caldron Falls Road at approximately 3:04 p.m. The crash was initially reported by an off-duty Marinette County Sheriff’s detective, who discovered the UTV overturned on the side of the roadway with two people pinned underneath. The off-duty detective immediately began rendering aid until emergency crews arrived.
Investigators determined that Boulanger was driving the UTV northbound on Caldron Falls Road when she failed to negotiate a turn, causing the vehicle to roll over.
Authorities said Boulanger was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet at the time of the crash. She suffered fatal injuries and died as a result of the incident.
A passenger, who was also reportedly not wearing a seatbelt or helmet, sustained injuries and was transported for medical treatment. The passenger’s condition has not been released.
Officials stated that speed, alcohol, and failure to wear proper safety equipment are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
The fatal accident remains under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Assisting at the scene were the Town of Stephenson Fire Department, Twin Bridge Rescue, and the Oconto Falls Ambulance Service.
Family, friends, and loved ones are now left grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Brooke Boulanger, whose life was tragically cut short in this devastating crash.
