Malheur County District Attorney David Goldthorpe has released the identity of a man found dead with what officials described as “suspicious injuries” near Moores Hollow Road off Interstate 84 in late March.
According to a news release issued on April 17, the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office responded on March 30 to a report of a suspicious person or unknown items in the area. When deputies arrived, they discovered the body of 26-year-old Sean Meehan.
Due to the circumstances at the scene, the sheriff’s office requested assistance from the Malheur County Major Crimes Team and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab. Authorities later confirmed that Meehan’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
Multiple agencies are now involved in the case, including the Oregon State Police, the High Desert Drug Task Force, the Ontario Police Department, and the District Attorney’s Office. Officials say the investigation remains active, and they are urging anyone with information to contact Detective Michael Hale with the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office.
Records also indicate that a missing persons report was filed regarding Meehan earlier in March. A social media post dated March 16 from a family member stated he had last been seen in Ontario, Oregon, and asked for the public’s help in locating him. At the time, no official law enforcement agencies publicly confirmed or released information about the missing person report or the discovery of the body until later inquiries were made.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sean Meehan’s death remains ongoing.
