In Loving Memory of Betty M. Harris

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we remember and honor the life of Betty M. Harris, a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and cherished member of her community, whose life was tragically taken on April 17, 2026, in a fatal crash in Adams County, Washington.

On that afternoon, at approximately 3:36 p.m., along US 395 just south of Ritzville, a devastating two-vehicle accident occurred. According to the Washington State Patrol, both vehicles were traveling southbound near milepost 91 when one vehicle came to a stop in the roadway and was struck from behind. The impact caused both vehicles to roll before coming to rest on the west shoulder.

Betty M. Harris, 77, of Lind, Washington, was identified as the driver of the first vehicle. She sadly passed away at the scene. Though the details of the accident remain part of an ongoing investigation, the loss felt by her family and community is immediate and immeasurable.

Betty lived a life marked by quiet strength, kindness, and dedication to those she loved. At 77, she carried with her a lifetime of memories, experiences, and moments that shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Whether through her warm smile, her gentle words, or her unwavering support, Betty left a lasting imprint on the hearts around her.

She was more than a name in a report—she was a woman who built a life filled with love, resilience, and compassion. Her presence brought comfort, her wisdom offered guidance, and her care knew no bounds. To her family, she was a pillar. To her friends, a source of encouragement. To her community, a familiar and comforting presence that will now be deeply missed.

In the wake of this tragedy, we also keep in our thoughts Natalie C. Debusschere, who was injured in the crash and transported to a nearby hospital. Moments like these remind us of how fragile life can be, and how quickly everything can change.

As we mourn Betty’s passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Her legacy will continue through the stories shared, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her family find comfort in the cherished memories they hold.
