PAMPA, Texas — The Pampa community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Dorothy Guinn, 81, who tragically lost her life Sunday afternoon in a head-on crash on I-40 in Gray County.
Authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. just west of McLean. A Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Guinn, was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of I-40 when it collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander.
Dorothy Guinn, 81, of Pampa, was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries. The driver of the Toyota, 60-year-old Ester Everson of Amarillo, also tragically died at the scene. Both women were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
Guinn’s sudden and tragic passing has left family, friends, and the Pampa community in deep grief. Loved ones remember her as a caring, warm-hearted individual whose presence brightened the lives of everyone around her. Her death is a profound loss, and the void she leaves behind is deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
The crash forced the temporary closure of eastbound I-40 near mile marker 140, just west of McLean, but the roadway has since reopened. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Guinn’s family and friends are left to cope with the shock and sorrow of losing someone so cherished, while the community rallies to honor her memory and support those affected by this tragic event.
